Principal Architect's Portfolio & Resources
I presented actionable insights derived from my hands-on experience managing R&D, CAE, and HPC environments for industry leaders.
My Key Contributions & Insights:
Productivity Breakthrough: Demonstrated how I helped LS ELECTRIC reduce complex job times from 200 hours to 6.5 hours by transitioning to AWS Cloud HPC.
Workflow Optimization: Shared my operational strategies using AppStream 2.0 and Ansys Gateway, enabling a seamless "Zero-Download" workflow for engineers.
Solving the Impossible: Showcased a case where I resolved multi-terabyte EMC model challenges for LS Automotive, which were impossible to handle on-premise.
Vision: Presented my roadmap for integrating AI/ML with CAE data for future autonomous manufacturing.
Based on my direct operational experience, I broke down the technical advantages of Ansys Gateway for engineers and IT managers.
Why I Recommend This:
Customer-Owned Security: I emphasized how this SaaS model keeps data strictly within the customer's AWS account, a critical factor for enterprise security.
Zero Infrastructure Burden: Demonstrated how I pre-configure complex clusters so engineers can focus solely on simulation.
True Elasticity: Explained my approach to scaling resources on-demand to eliminate upfront HPC costs.
Future Integration: Discussed practical methods for leveraging AWS storage and AI services to maximize data value.
I led the complete digital transformation for LS ELECTRIC, designing a cloud-native CAE/SDM system that I continue to operate today.
Project Impact :
R&D Speed and Efficiency: LS ELECTRIC drastically shortened product development cycles. Tasks such as CAE pre/post-processing that previously took one month were reduced to just 3 hours on the cloud, significantly lowering testing costs and boosting product reliability.
Pioneering SDM: To manage a growing volume of simulation data (reaching 140TB from 5,000 annual runs), the company implemented a first-of-its-kind SDM system in the manufacturing sector utilizing:
Compute: High-performance clusters via AWS ParallelCluster.
VDI: Seamless remote access implemented with Amazon AppStream 2.0.
Storage: Cost-efficient high-throughput storage using Amazon FSx.
Business Resilience: The cloud infrastructure played a critical role in enabling core R&D personnel to transition smoothly to remote work during the COVID-19 pandemic.
Future Vision: LS ELECTRIC is expanding its cloud usage to drive the next wave of innovation, including integrating CAE data with Digital Twin, Data Analytics, and Artificial Intelligence (AI) to enable faster optimal design and foster new business value.
Significance: This project is recognized as a pioneering case of public cloud CAE infrastructure in Korea, enabling seamless remote R&D during the pandemic.
